Convert Carbon tetrachloride (CCl4) to CO₂e
1 kg=2200kg CO₂e (AR6, 100-year)
1 kg × 2200 = 2200 kg CO₂e (GWP-100, IPCC AR6)
Global warming potential of Carbon tetrachloride
| Assessment report | GWP, 100-year | Source page |
|---|---|---|
| IPCC AR6 | 2200 | 6 |
| IPCC AR5 | 1730 | 6 |
| IPCC AR4 | 1400 | 6 |
To convert a mass of Carbon tetrachloride to CO₂ equivalent, multiply it by its global warming potential (GWP). For example, 10 kg × 2200 = 22,000 kg CO₂e using the AR6 value.
The GHG Protocol's table states that "the use of the latest values (AR6) is recommended", and notes that AR4 and AR5 values are sometimes used for inventory and reporting purposes. Use the set your reporting framework asks for and keep it the same across years.
The UK government conversion factors (DESNZ 2026) give 1730 kg CO₂e per kg for this gas (basis: AR5; AR6 where no AR5 value exists (DESNZ 2026 methodology, Table 1 note 5)).
Group: Chlorocarbons and Hydrochlorocarbons.
